National Park
The famous Sam Roi Yod national park is just a few km away It is well worth a visit for its caves, viewpoints and beaches. Sam Roi Yod also includes Thailand's largest fresh water marsh which is a favourite among bird watchers . You can also take a boat trip up the scenic river at Khao Daeng and climb to the spectacular viewpoint. There is a beautiful beach to visit at Laem Sala which is probably the best in the region and home to a large troop of Dusky langurs. Tours can be organised or simply hire a car or motorbike and travel under your own steam.
The most famous of the caves is Tham Praya Nakhon, it is stunning and definately worth a visit, it is famous for the shrine to King Rama 5. The cave is around 9km from here and when you get to Sahm Praya (three Kings) beach you can either walk over the headland to Laem Sala or take a boat. The walk over takes about 20 minutes and has some stunning views of the surrounding bay and islands. The beach at Laem Sala is very nice so you can take a rest there before climbing to the cave which takes about 20-30 minutes. The best time to go is in the morning as the sunlight in the cave is breathtaking and also the walk is cooler. You often see Dusky Langurs (monkey) en-route to the cave. Next is Tham Kaew (glass cave). For this cave you will need torches which you can rent from nearby. Although visiting this cave does not involve as much walking to get to, it is definately a more of a true caving experience. It is beautiful inside with many bats and crystal outcrops but is not somewhere I would advise for children or people with walking difficulties. Tham Sai (sand cave) is a large cavern equally beuatifull but a lot easier to walk through.
Phu Noi beach is also known as Dolphin bay. This is because of the pod of rare pink river dolphins found here (often confused with Irrawaddy dolphins). They come here after the monsoon to feed on eel catfish and can be seen from late october to march. There is no guarantees in seeing them however the best chance is to kayak near the islands, also it is a lot easier to spot them on calm days.
Why not take advantage of our kayaks? Free to all guests, they can be taken solo or seat up to 3 people. We can supply tips and advice on where to go and what to see aswell as instructions on kayaking. The beautiful islands of Koh Ram and Koh Nom Sao (amongst others) are just 20-30 mins paddle from the resort. Koh Ram is uninhabited apart from a large group of monkeys who are often found searching for shellfish along the shore at low tide. It's a heart warming and rewarding experience seeing them interact and play on the beach. You may also be lucky enough to see the pod of famous pink dolphins we just mentioned. Fishing trips and island tours by boat can also be organised at the resort.
Here at Blue Beach Resort we can organise day trips to many places of interest including, Hua Hin, Pranburi, Khao Kalok (skull mountain), Pak Nam Pran beach, Huaymongkol temple, Pala-u waterfalls, Pranburi forest, Monsoon vineyard and the mangrove reservation amongst others
If your plan is to just take is easy, why not soak up some sun on a deckchair in our beach area or take a stroll along the long curving sands. Phu Noi beach is free of the endless sun loungers, jetskis and hawkers found in busier resorts and is a great place for a sunbathe or swim. We dont have a swimming pool here at Blue Beach but there is a beautiful pool you can use 10 minutes walk from here ( you just need to buy a refreshment and they are happy for you to
